The GenX Cinema series presents the 1971 comedy, “Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” starring Gene Wilder, on Wednesday, April 4, at 7:00 pm at the Soper Reese Theatre in Lakeport. Entry is by donation. A classic piece of children’s entertainment filled with whimsy, horror, comedy and imagination, with script by Roald Dahl who is also the author of the original book. The story is about a “free candy for life” children’s contest, set in the colorful and eccentric fantasy factory of a very famous candy maker. Gene Wilder is at the top of his form, hinting at a devious personality with a single gleam of the eye. The film is rated G with run time of 1 hour 38 minutes.
