The 1963 adventure drama "The Great Escape" starring Steve McQueen, James Garner, Richard Attenborough, and Charles Bronson, screens at the Soper Reese Theatre in Lakeport on Tuesday, June 14, at 1:00 and 6:00 pm. Based on a true story of Allied prisoners plotting to break out of a Nazi detention camp in World War II, the film is particularly notable for Steve McQueen's portrayal of the irreverent "Cooler King" and for his spectacular motorcycle chase scene in which he performed his own stunts.
