On Friday, March 18, the Soper Reese Theatre Third Friday Live series features Steve Lucky and the Rhumba Bums, with show starting at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $15 for all seats.
This Bay Area group plays a sizzling mix of jump blues, swing, jazz and rare gems inspired by the '30s, '40s and '50s. Steve’s soulful piano and Carmen Getit’s Dinah Washington vocal style combine with saxophones, drums and bass for a driving sound that brings an audience to its feet, jumpin’, jivin’ and party stylin’. Music critic, Jim Moret of CNN Showbiz says this group is "…at the forefront of the swing revival," and Down Beat Magazine says, “The Rhumba Bums abide by Cab Calloway's advice: 'Live what's in your soul and sing your friggin' heart out.’"
