St. Mary of the Angels Catholic School invites the community to celebrate the vibrant spirit of Mardi Gras at its annual Mardi Gras fundraiser, happening Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Carl Purdy Hall at the Redwood Empire Fairgrounds in Ukiah. This celebratory evening will feature cocktails, a gourmet dinner by Garbocci Catering, casino-style gaming, live and silent auctions, and dancing with Northern California’s premier dance band, The Funky Dozen. Tom Allman, retired Mendocino County Sheriff, and Roberta Gonzales, CEO of ROGOPRO and KTVU FOX2 Meteorologist, will be emceeing the evening’s events, which kick off at 5:00 p.m. Event Timeline Highlights • Registration & Cocktail Hour: 5:00 p.m. • Dinner: 6:15 p.m. • Live Auction: 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. • Gaming & Dancing: opens after the live auction ends Supporting St. Mary’s Students For more than five decades, Mardi Gras has been St. Mary’s signature fundraising event, bringing together families, alumni, and local businesses in support of Catholic education in Ukiah. Proceeds directly benefit St. Mary’s students by funding tuition assistance, classroom resources, and enrichment programs like music, Spanish, gardening, and technology. Each year at Mardi Gras, St. Mary’s features a Fund-a-Need to rally the community around key priorities that strengthen student learning today and support the school’s long-term goals. These initiatives ensure your generosity has a direct, lasting impact on our students and programs. Well-supported tuition assistance programs are an essential element of Catholic schools' accreditation evaluation. This year, the school has chosen two Fund-a-Need programs to focus on: the CARE Program and the Legacy of Learning Endowment. St. Mary’s CARE (Curriculum, Art, Resource Enhancement) Program is an initiative to strengthen learning through enhanced resources in curriculum, art, STEM, and technology. In 2026, CARE will specifically fund staffing for the 6th-grade homeroom teacher position, helping ensure students receive the support and instruction they need to thrive. The second Fund-a-Need is the Legacy of Learning Endowment, which strengthens St. Mary’s long-term sustainability and expands access to a high-quality Catholic education by supporting a more resilient financial foundation and increasing scholarship opportunities for students with financial need.
