The 1946 Alfred Hitchcock espionage thriller “Notorious,” starring Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman screens at the Soper Reese Theatre in Lakeport on Tuesday, April 12, at 1:00 and 6:00 pm.
Sublime direction from Hitchcock and terrific central performances from Ingrid Bergman and Cary Grant make this a bona-fide classic worthy of a re-visit. The virtuoso sequences such as the long kiss and the crane shot into the door key are justly famous, yet the film's real brilliance is in its subtle portrayal of dangerous relationships. The concluding shot transforms Claude Rains from villain to victim with cool, tragic force.
