Description

The highlight of the musical year at the Blue Wing Restaurant is our Labor Day weekend BLUE WING BLUES FESTIVAL with patrons comfortably seated in the garden between the restaurant and hotel under the shade of the sycamores.  Two great bands play each evening on the hotel veranda.  During the first set, beginning around 6:15, ticket holders are served a delicious barbeque dinner, with the headline performance beginning around 7:30. Many local companies and individuals help to sponsor the event.

Tickets at $75 + tax per person can be obtained at EVENTBRITE.COM or by calling the Tallman Hotel at (707) 275-2244 ext. 0.

On the second night of the Festival, Jules Leyhe and his Family Jules Band will open for the Delgado Brothers Band from Los Angeles.

Here are some additional details on the performers.

A Berklee Music graduate and Lake County favorite, Jules Leyhe is a highly original musician who juxtaposes futuristic elements with a down-home tone.  He’s performed with blues greats such as Buddy Guy and Taj Mahal and has now built his own “Family Jules Band” composed of Nancy Wright on sax, keyboardist Ian McArdle and drummer Isaac Schwartz.  His recent album “Your First Rodeo” is a delightful mashup of blues hip-hop, fusion, rock and Latin music.

The Delgado Brothers have been tearing up the Los Angeles music scene since the 1970s.  Their style is bluesy, but they’re much more than a blues band.  With a percussionist who plays congas, timbales, and shakers, their “bluesy” music has a Latin rhythmic bed.  Following up their win in the 2016 International Blues Competition, their most recent CD, “Two Trains,” is the most dynamic and soulful of their 30-year recording career.  The Brothers have stayed true to their East LA roots over the years while branching out in truly original ways.
