Description

“Indigenous Poetics,” a poetry reading celebrating Indigenous voices hosted by Lake County Poet Laureate Georgina Marie Guardado at the MAC and on Zoom. Guardado curated the reading, inviting a monumental group of compelling and renowned writers and readers including Ukiah poet and Ukiah Poet Laureate Emerita, Linda Noel, Bay Area poets Alison Hart and Nanette Deetz, and Lake County poet Mia Ruiz. Georgina Marie will also read from her work. Collectively the readers are from Lakota, Dakota, Cherokee, Passamaquoddy, Amazonian, Koyungkowi, Mojave, Peruvian, and Mexican Indigenous backgrounds. The reading is part of Middletown Art Center's (MAC) current year-long project WEAVING - Weaving Baskets, Weaving Bridges. www.middletownartcenter.org/weaving By donation.
