"Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new." -Albert Einstein Tim Gill, one of Taylor's most popular lecturers, highlights the continuous but unsuccessful efforts - so far - to prove Einstein was wrong, about something. In this talkTim will explore the "Cosmological Constant", an idea that Einstein himself described as his greatest blunder. We will review previous Taylor Observatory talks focused on proof of various aspects of Einstein's Theory of General Relativity, and dig into recent discoveries that further make the case for General Relativity. We will look at the ideas of "Discovery" and "Invention", both in Mathematics and Physics, and the important roles they play as Astrophysics continues its quest to define the universe. Tim brings both knowledge and light-heartedness to this interesting topic. Tim, a math teacher and Student Services Director for the Kelseyville Unified School District, works yearly with students in Australia as a break from his multiple KVUSD responsibilities.
