Each year in the winter and spring, the Tallman Hotel hosts a monthly series of intimate, informal “Concerts with Conversation” on Sunday afternoons, mostly in Riffe’s Meeting House next to the Hotel.
For the finale of the season, we move outdoors into the garden between the Tallman Hotel and Blue Wing Restaurant and host a program of jazz interpretations off Beatles music by a talented quintet headed by guitarist CHRISTIAN FOLEY-BEINING.
The spark that lit a fire for Jazz in Christian Foley-Beining at 17 years of age in his native Freiburg, Germany, came from the guitar of Wes Montgomery. From that inspiration he went on to study guitar first at the Swiss Jazz School in Bern. He then later refined his playing at the Berklee School of Music in Boston and the Musicians Institute’s GIT (Guitar Institute of Technology) in Hollywood.
Now based Healdsburg, Christian brings together a small ensemble to perform classic Beatles tunes in a jazz style, the core of which will be Tom Shader on bass and Kendrick Freeman on drums. Said Foley-Beining, “The songs seem to be very simple, and you just sing along, but when you analyze the structures and harmonies, you realize how deep the musicality was.”
Tickets at $35 + tax can be obtained online at EVENTBRITE.COM or by calling the Tallman Hotel at 707-275-2244 ext. 0.
